Pokemon Gold Walk-through

First you start out, and you have to set an intern clock. This provides the night and day affect in the game. There are Pokemon that you cannot catch in the morning, some Pokemon only come out at midday, and some Pokemon only come out at night.

When you find yourself in you room, when you go downstairs, you moms going to give u Poke Gear. Poke Gear provides you with a watch, with the date. As the game progresses you get a Town Map, and a Radio.

The Big building in your town is Prof. Ustugi's Lab. He gives you one of three new discovered Pokemon

Those are the starting Pokemon. They look weak and cute now, but when they grow watch out. I took the the water Pokemon because water pokemon are one of my favorites. I heard that the Hinoarahi is good. The plant pokemon wasn’t that strong. Mostly all the Gym Leaders have good pokemon against them. When you walk down the road, you’ll run into some Pidgey’s and Otachi (#161/Normal). If you go to the right place you’ll find Spearow and Geodude’s. At night a bird called Ho Ho (#163/Normal Flying) romes the place with Rattata’s.

Now we arrive at the next town. At the entrance of the town your going to see a old man. If you say yes to him, he tells you about the different buildings. When he’s finished he’ll give you a map card. Automatically, now you can use the town map on your Poke Gear. Prof. Ustugi tells you to go north of that village. To get him, a egg another Prof. Told him about. You should train your pokemon to around level 7. Before going back to Ustugi’s lab. When you get back from the house with the other prof. Go back to the city with the guy who gives you the Map. When you try to leave that city for your home town. You fight your rival, he’s a bad trainer because he steals all his pokemon. He has the opposite type as yours, just like in the other versions. He’s not hard to beat because you were able to train your pokemon, but he only has a level 5.

Anyways, after you go back to Ustugi’s house, head back to that town where you were before. From there head Northwest, where you'll notice the two kids having a

battle and blocking the road are now gone. On the way you'll see some farmilair pokémon from Red and Blue. If you have the Gold version you'll be finding Caterpies and Metapods, and if you have the Silver version you'll be finding Weedles and Kakunas. Once you get the most northern and western part you can go, you'll notice a house that you can walk through.

Going through here leads you to the first town with a gym. Defeat the Gym leader there, he has lv.7 Pidgey and a Pidgeotto lv.12. When you get back to the pokemon center your going to meat a scientist near the counter. Talk to him and you will get a pokemon egg, which hatches into a togepie after 2000 steps.

Next, when you head west, you'll notice that theres a tree blocking the road that shakes when you press a on it. This is actually a pokémon, but you can't fight it until later on. Instead, head south through the house, and you'll find two caves. Go to the north cave, where you'll find a little station where there's a puzzle you have to solve. When put together the puzzle is a Kabuto. Remember that, for it will help you solve it. Once you beat it, you'll be transported to

the 2nd cave where you can fight a psychic type type pokémon with a ton of different

forms (but one pokedex entry).

When you get out of the cave you were transported to, go east, and the go south.

After fighting a bunch of trianers, and several new pokemon that you haven't seen yet, you enter a cave where you'll fight geodudes and zubats. When you get out of the cave you'll find yourself going west to a new town. However, before you can get into the gym or any other buildings in the town, you have to beat team rocket and spread slowpokes (why?) all over the town.

Now, when you go to the gym, you'll be fighting the bug gym. The leader has a metapod, kakuna, and a Scyther. Pretty easy (especailly for my fire guy). Now, you'll want to go west through a house into the forest. To get through the forest you'll need the HM cut, which you get by chasing a bird around (farfech’d) When you get the bird back to its rightful trainers, one of them will give to you Hm CUT. When you go threw the tree. The forest will bring you to the exit. When you leave the forest after you walk north threw a few trainers. You’ll arrive to a big city (like Celedon City) With a big deparment store.

The gym here uses normal pokémon. Fighting pokémon should rip this gym up.

Note: I had to talk to the gym leader twice after beating her to get the badge.

Near the gym there is a house with flowers around it. Talk to the women in there and you get a squirtle water fountain. Now go North of the city, you will find a park. On Tuesday and Thursday, Saturday, there is a Pokemon Bug Catching contest. In the competition you can capture, all bug pokemon, except the new one, you can catch Scyther, Pinsir etc. (Good thing is that you can actually fight the pokemon.) now go to the east exit. You’ll fight a few trainers, there is a tree that blocks the path. Press on it, when you press on it you will automatically use the squirtle water fountain.

The Pokemon attacks you, he is rock, so water and grass are okay also. He is a must get Pokemon, it’s only appears once so…. Catch It.

Go west then North to the next city. This city has a gym that specailizes in ghost pokemon.

To get to the leader, you'll need to travel across a path that you can't see or you'll be teleported back to the start. The path is :

Next after you beat the Ghost Gym, you will have to do another side quest. You have to beat the Eevee sisters. They have all the Eevee Evolutions. The good thing is that you get to fight one at a time, with breaks.

Now go west to the next city, your going to run in to a bunch of trainers. There not that hard so you’ll be okay. This has a Steel type gym.

This city has a fighting Gym, a psychic or flying Pokemon should blow them away. When you defeat this gym Leader, go outside, your going to see a women, talk to her she’s going to give you Hm (FLY). There is also in one of the houses, a medicine guy who gives you medicine to give to the Gym leader at the top of the Light Tower. You should get to the leader by flying. When she leaves, to go back to the gym, you can fight her now in her gym to get your steel badge. You should use Fighting, Fire, Water(against the Steel Onix). Also in fast food place in the city will give you Hm (Strength). Now go to the Ghost gym City. Now instead of going west go east, you’ll find yourself, in front of a cave. The faster way of getting to the next city is to surf east. But if you want to capture cool pokemon go in cave.

You'll then get to a town where you can't do much except visit the shop and the center. A man blocks the gym, and antoehr man blocks the path (he charges you 500 bucks to talk with him). Go north through 1 house, and avoid the 2nd by going around it in the grass (it contains rocket members who cost you 1k a crossing). Continue to move north until you see a lake with a red Ryrados visible. After fighting him (try to caputre him!), Lance will appear next to a sign. He’s going to tell you stuff about Team Rocket doing weird experiments to make Magikarp evolve into Gyarados. You and him save the Magikarp, go to the last town you went to, go into the store where you'll find Lance forcing some doors to open. This turns out to be a team rocket base entrance! After going around (talk to all the trainers, and get all the items), try to open one of the doors that has what appears to be a cardkey only entrance. After beating the trainer in the first door you open, goto the second door, where you'll find lance and the two team rocket bosses. Lance takes out the guy, while you talk on the chic, who has an arbok and a few others (however, it's not jesse). Next, you'll have to take out the reactor (?) by battling all the electrodes around it. Now, exit the cave, and all the men leave, along with lance. He'll also give you HM 06, which allows you to get rid of whirlpools.

You'll now be able to get into the gym, and go to the path to the west. Hit the gym, which is an ice gym. The leader has a Seel, a Dewgong, and #221 INOMU. A fire type will roast the place up. Once you have the 7th badge, you only have to get one more!

Before you get to the next gym, you'll need to take a pitstop at the town with the 3rd gym (the one with the big market). Here you'll find that team rocket has taken over the town. To beat them, head to the house a little west of the gym, the one with the black steel on it. You'll fight a bunch of Team Rocket Members (watch out, their golbats are REALLY annoying). When you destroy all of them, go heal your pokemon, then set out to the northwestern ally of homes, to the tunnel underneath the town. When you go down in the tunnel, you'll notice a small little side ally, leading to a door locked until now. This looks like a prison of some sorts, underneath the big shop.

Hit the switches, and beat the rockets, to get to the elevator, where you head up to find that you're in the big shop. Go to the center to heal your guys, then go back into the house with the steel on it. Go to the 3rd or 4th floor (whatever one has the big door on it), and hit the switch which opens it. Once you beat all the rockets there, go east of the ice Gym city. You’ll meet lot of Elite Trainers. When you go fully to the left you’ll see a cave, you’ll meat a bunch of ice pokemon in the cave the hardest ice puzzle is shown below you’ll figure the rest out yourself:

You'll exit the cave, and find yourself in another town. The gym here is a dragon gym, where you'll again have to push down boulders from above to step over the lava to the leader. The leader is rather powerful, and has 2 Dragonairs, then a #230 KINGUDORA.

However, she's apparently either lost the badge, or isn't in the mood to give the badge to you! So, you have to surf behind the gym, to a cave. Once you get in there, surf around until you see a whirlpool. Using HM 06, the whirlpool will disapear. Now, surf around till a small little plank where you see an item ball. When you pick the item up, guess who appears: The 8th Gym Leader. She now has the badge, and you can now use HM07 that you got in the ice cave.

To get to the Shock League, you'll need all of the badges, and almost all of the HMs. Now, retrun to your home town, and travel east via surfing. You'll get to an area on a coast with a cave. Now, using HM 07 to float up waterfalls, you'll easily get past the cave, and on your way to the final cave before the leauge.

After battling a ton of trainers, you'll end up in an easy to solve cave (unlike Victory Road). Before you get to the end of the cave, your rival shows up for a final time, to determine if you're ready for the league. If you struggle beating him, trian your pokemon up some more. Once you finish this, you'll end up in the center/market. Make sure that you have at least 1 or 2 pokemon over 60. You'll also need 3 or 4 at 50 for backup. All those potions and such that you've picked up over the way should be useful. There are also probally 3 or so revives that you've picked up along the way to help.

The League has 5 trainers that you have to battle. Here they are in the order that they appear, and their pokémon:

When you beat Lance, Prof. Oak comes up to you, Lance brings you into the hall of fame, the hall of fame records your Pokemon. Then the credits run, if you press one of A or B the credits run faster.

When your done that your called to go to the Prof Ustugi’s Lab. Where you get a ticket for a boat which brings you to Vermillion City. That boat is in the gym with the steel Onix.

You'll now be able to get somewhere in the large buliding with 3 men guarding the port. This leads to a boat, and after beating some trainers on there it will arrive in the Red and Blue world! Here you can compete for the 8 badges that you have probally won a long time ago. Before you can access some of the gyms, however, you'll need to do some specail things to access some of the gyms, so take a look at this walkthrough:
Gym Leader 1: Lt. Surge:
Surge has been training a lot, and now is a formable rival. His electric pokemon are around level 40 or so, including a raichu and a few others. His gym is very easy to get to, being in the same place, and just requiring the cut HM that you already have.
Gym Leader 2: Sabrina:
Again, Sabrina has been training, and she has some more pokemon to her aresenol. However, she's probally easier than she was in Yellow, seeing how she had 50 abras, kadabras, and alakazams then. Now her pokémon are just around 40-some, and contains a psychic lineup. Her gym is right where it used to be: Saffron City. However, the Fighting Dojo next door is trainer less.... might they show up ever (email me if you know how to get them to show up)?
Gym Leader 3: Erika:
Right where she was in the old games, Erika lives up to her other gym leaders, and has 40 some pokémon. She has grass (jee, really!), and is pretty easy to eat (especailly if you have a houhou or a fully evolved fire starter).
Gym Leader 4: Koga's Sister:
As you have noticed, Koga has been promoted to a Pokémon League contestant, so his sister has taken over the local gym. Looks like she should have been in the league, because her pokemon are right up there with koga's. At 40 some, you still probally will be able to beat her pretty darned easily. Her gym is in the same kablam place, on the same kablam network, at the same kablam time (wasn't that show cool when you were a kid?).
Gym Leader 5: Misty:
If you went to fight Misty before you beat the otehr 4 leaders, you'll find that she's not in her gym, nor anyone (except that scary little advice guy). To get her in the gym, you'll have to beat the other 4 gym leaders, and when you show up in her gym, you'll see a team rocket member who runs off. Goto nugget bridge, and beat her, then go to where bill used to be. You'll find Misty there, and she'll retrun to her gym along with her other junior trainers. Beat Misty, who has some Starmies and other water types, along with Golduck at 40-some levels, to earn the Cascade Badge. Her gym is also right smackdown where it used to be.
Before you go to the next Gym Leader (Brock), you'll need to play 'Wake The Oaf [snorlax]'. To play this game (well, it's not really a game), go to where the power plant used to be (west of Cerulean, then surfing down south to the plant), and talk with all the guys there. When you leave, a guard will tell you something, probally saying that they need a part that Team Rocket stole. To get this peice, return (bleh!) again to Misty's Gym, and use your itemfinder. You'll notice something different when you're walking about halfway up and to the left. Then press the A button franticly until you find the item that the people in the plant need.
Once you have the item, return to the power plant, and talk with the man next to the machinne. Once you get there, he'll go on and on and on... until he finally gives you TM 07. Once you have TM 07 (it's a powerful electric attack), fly to lavander town, and go to the pokemon tower. Talk with the man with his face in the wall, and he'll give you a station to listen to on your radio, to apparently listen to the pokeflute.
Now after doing all this mess (and causing me to write a LOT), FINALLY go a little south until you go to where snorlax was in red and blue, and travel west a little past some trainers and grass till you get to the new oaf (snorlax). Blast up the sound on your radio (go four down on your menu, then press right 3 times) on the channel 14. Play this for a few seconds, then close the radio and press A on snorlax. The big oaf will wake up, and fight you (catch him! he's level 50!!!). Once you beat him or capture him you'll be able to head through diglett's cave to the next gym!!!!
Gym Leader 6: Brock:
After comming out of the cave, and cutting down a bush head a little north to Pewter. Heal your pokémon, and get ready to take on brock's onixes, ryhorns, omastars, and his other rock pokemon that are at level 40 or so. Once you beat him, and get the boulder badge, you're ready to travel south to your next gym. Also, the gym is right where it used to be (what a surprise).
Gym Leader 7: Blaine:
Go down through the now demolished viridian forest, through viridian (where you may want to train your pokemon to the mirror image of yourself, who has level 50 full evolutions of all the starters), down through pallet to where cinnabar island used to be. It's now basicly just a volcano, and the island is now very small. There is just 1 man, talk with him, and after a very long chat, he'll soar into the air. Now, travel east to where seafoam islands used to be (why did they take that out?! Why!!??). Go into the cave, and you'll find (you guessed it) blaine. Blaine has some weird fire guys, among them being a rapidash, all at (you guessed it again) level 40 or so.
Gym Leader 8: GARY!!!
Jeez, anyone can have their own gym now a days. Looks like gary bummed out after being defeated by Ash in the league, and decided to take over the Viridian Gym (apparently after Giovanni vanished or something like that). Gary won't be at the gym until you have 15 badges (lazy I bet). Once you get there, he won't be as easy as the other leaders. His pokemon are levels 50-60, and have pokemon that he generally had in the leauge when you last faced him (amazing how some of his pokemon actually lost levels). Nonetheless, after beating everyone else and all the trainers, you should be able to beat him pretty easy, although he may actually be tougher than lance.

Now that you have 16 badges, head over to pallet town (in the old world), and talk with professor oak. He'll tell you something or other, and now you can go to the path that the guard used to block before you got to victory road. Next go to where the leauge would be in the old map, and enter the house. Go left a tiny bit, and exit through the door. You're now at the unknown dungeon of gold and silver. Instead of battling mewtwo at the end of this, you'll battle: RED!(ash). But to get to him, you'll have to go west through some grass with 40-50 level pokemon.
Before you enter the cave to the west, make sure that you stop at the pokemon center! You'll need to have your pokemon up there, because Red has pokémon in excess of level 80. Once you have your pokemon healed, save, so if you lose, you won't lose half of your money, you can just turn the game off, and restart from where you save. Anyways, enter the cave, where you'll need to use all of your knowledge to get through it. At the end of the cave, you'll finally meet up with Red. His team consists of:

Lv. 82 Pikachu Efui Snorlax Blastoise Charizard Venasaur

I got this walkthrough from The Poké Masters
